.DISCUSSION... Issued at 258 AM CDT Fri Sep 26 2025
Today...
Temperatures this morning are sitting in the 50s under clear skies and light winds. Aloft the area is currently under ridging but will transition to southwesterly flow during the day as ahead of an approaching shortwave trough. Highs in the 80s are expected today with sunny-mostly sunny skies. Winds strengthen this morning, with winds gusting 15-25mph by the afternoon, highest across northwestern portions of the area.
Pleasant weather is expected for those with outdoor activities this evening with temperatures in the 70s and mostly sunny skies. Lows tonight will be in the 50s.
This Weekend...
A cold front from a passing shortwave will push through the forecast area Saturday morning with northerly winds gusting 15-25mph behind the front. Slightly cooler but pleasant weather is expected on Saturday as highs climb into the upper 70s to low 80s.
Southwesterly flow aloft builds back over the area on Sunday as an upper level low sits over the southwest. Temperatures climb back above normal on Sunday aided by strengthening southerly flow. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid-upper 80s with southerly winds of 10- 15mph.
Next Week...
Broadly southwesterly flow aloft will remain in place through the rest of the forecast period. A series of shortwave troughs are expected to move through this southwesterly flow aloft but do not look to bring precipitation chances to the area. The forecast remains dry through the end of the forecast period. The next best chance for rain looks to be just outside of the forecast period (Friday/Saturday). Above normal temperatures (normal highs in the mid-upper 70s) are also expected through the end of the forecast period with highs in the 80s and lows in the upper 50s-low 60s.
