.UPDATE... Issued at 234 AM CDT Thu Sep 11 2025

We are actually seeing a few active cells drifting across portions of eastern Middle Tennessee early this morning. While a surface ridge just to our east remains the dominant low-level feature, an upper trough sits almost atop the surface ridge, and the showers we are seeing are riding down the northwest flow aloft. We`ve updated the short-term grids to account for the showers; a few may linger into the morning. But overall, their impact will be minimal.

.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Friday Night) Issued at 1029 PM CDT Wed Sep 10 2025

Some showers from a shortwave are present along the TN/KY border this evening, but other than that, there`s not much about this forecast to write home about. Thursday should be a quiet day, albeit warmer. There is some suggestion still from the HREF and other ensembles that some precipitation could fall across middle Tennessee, but if that occurs, it will be light. No severe weather is expected in the short term period.

As for temperatures, Highs on Thursday will touch 90 once again, mainly west of the Cumberland Plateau. This is the beginning of a ridging pattern pushing east over the area, and things will only continue to heat up into the weekend and next week.

.LONG TERM... (Saturday through next Thursday) Issued at 1029 PM CDT Wed Sep 10 2025

A ridge to our west will push east into the weekend, socking us into a warmer and drier pattern. Not much humidity, and near zero rain chances mean it`ll be nice and sunny. The downside of this is that the mercury will continue to rise, getting into the mid 90s by Sunday afternoon. Guidance is suggesting the ridge could flatten some into mid-week next week, bringing our temperatures down to the low 90s, but still much warmer than we`d like for September.

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1155 PM CDT Wed Sep 10 2025

VFR conditions with light winds will continue through the taf period at BNA/MQY/CKV. CSV/SRB will have episodes of MVFR fog overnight, and a few brief light showers will move across the Upper Cumberland area in the late night hours. Daytime Thursday will feature VFR area-wide with generally light north to northeast winds.
