Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Jackson MS 618 AM CDT Sun Sep 14 2025

...New AVIATION...

.DISCUSSION... Issued at 206 AM CDT Sun Sep 14 2025

Today and Tonight... Hot and dry conditions will persist across the forecast area heading into this afternoon with RHs dropping to around 30-35%. Concerns for fire weather remain somewhat muted as winds remain light but as each dry subsequent day continues to dry out fuels, fire weather concerns may increase into next week. Afternoon highs will peak into the low to mid 90s F falling into the upper 60s F tonight. /86/CR/

Next week... Despite ridging quickly building east through the Lower Mississippi River Valley late in the period, the overall troughing pattern will pretty much persist across the region through the mid and extended portions of the forecast. This, with high pressure at the surface wedged into the region from the northeast, will continue to promote quiet and continued hot conditions across the forecast area through the week. A boundary will try to approach from the west, but it`ll essentially stall and washout before making it into the CWA. Still, this could bring an isolated shower or storm to mainly far northwest portions of the forecast area Thursday and Friday afternoon. /19/
