.AVIATION... 06Z TAFS...VFR conditions are generally expected through the period. Smoke from nearby wildfires could reduce VSBYS at YKM and PSC. Some reduced VSBYS have already been briefly reported across the Columbia Basin. Therefore have opted to included some MVFR VSBYS at PSC, though confidence is average at best. Winds will increase during the late morning into the afternoon on Thursday and gust 20 to 25 kts everywhere and 25 to 30 kts at DLS. Confidence is high (90%) in these winds especially during the late afternoon hours.

UPDATE...Opted to issue a Wind Advisory for the Kittitas Valley, valid 11 AM Thursday to 2 AM Friday. Strong cross-Cascade pressure gradients coupled with modestly strong winds aloft (25-35 kts) and strong isentropic descent should facilitate a windy day through the valley. Forecast soundings from CAMs show a low-level jet (LLJ) as strong as 50 kts by late afternoon and evening through the valley and east to Ryegrass Summit along I-90. Confidence in strong winds of 20-35 mph with gusts of 40-55 mph is highest (60-90%) between 1 PM and 11 PM Thursday. Plunkett/86
