.KEY MESSAGES...

- Arrival of drier air will result in more refreshing mornings and not quite as hot afternoons

- Little to no rain through the next 7 days

&&

.SHORT TERM (THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT)...

A drier airmass will continue to filter into our region from today into tonight with a northwesterly flow aloft and a northerly low level flow following in the wake of yesterday`s front, which is located to our south. Mid-level ridging centered over Mexico then slowly nudges eastward from Friday into Friday night. Low-level winds also turn back more easterly Friday as well. Given the dry air, temperatures should be able to cool off faster each night and allow for a more refreshing feel. Morning lows in the 60s should trend common but low-lying valleys, especially across the Hill Country, could dip into the 50s. Afternoon highs will continue to run slightly above average but will be lower and not as hot as majority of the past week. Partly to mostly sunny skies trend for the rest of this afternoon while mostly clear skies are expected through for the remainder of the period. Outside from perhaps a brief stray shower in far southern Atascosa or Dewitt counties later this afternoon, no rain is expected.

&&

.LONG TERM (SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY)...

The weather pattern remains persistent and doesn`t change much in the long term period with mid-level ridging remaining in control across the state and a general easterly flow in the low-levels. Temperatures will continue to run slightly above average in the afternoons with low to mid 90s for many near and east of the I-35 corridor while the Hill Country communities trend in the mid to upper 80s. The mornings remain more seasonable and comfortable featuring lows in the 60s for most while portions of the Hill Country continue to dip into the 50s at times. Skies will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy with not much hope for rain through the next 7 or so days.

&&

.AVIATION (18Z THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY)...

VFR conditions are forecast for all area terminals through this cycle. Northwest to north winds of 6 to 10 knots are forecast for this afternoon and early evening. Light northerly winds are forecast for tonight into Friday morning. The wind shifts to an easterly direction on Friday afternoon as a result of the surface high pressure system over northern Texas pushing to the northeast into the middle Mississippi Valley area through the period.
