The main concern in the short term will be fog potential
tonight. Low level moisture and light winds will create areas of fog
tonight, generally holding off until after midnight. Confidence is
moderate in at least patchy fog development in the river valleys,
Sandhills and portions of southwest and north central Nebraska.
Where the uncertainty lies and less forecaster confidence is in how
low the visibility will get or the dense fog potential. Models have
differed from previous run and with the front pushing through
earlier than expected it has lowered confidence in any widespread
dense fog, thus have decided to hold off on a headline. Will need to
continue to monitor this evening and as fog starts to develop
tonight to see if we have widespread visibilities drop below 1/4
mile. Expect fog to lift by mid-morning and should see dry
conditions for Saturday with highs reaching the 70s.

There is the potential for some isolated showers and thunderstorms
Sunday evening across far western Nebraska. At this time
confidence remains low as only a few models have suggested some
isolated convection off the high terrain, thus have kept PoPs
out of the forecast for now. The better potential for isolated
to scattered showers and thunderstorms will be Monday late
afternoon and evening as a shortwave trof moves in. Additional
chance for showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Tuesday
with the cold front passage. Will also see temperature drop
from the upper 70s to low 80s on Sunday and Monday into the
upper 60s to low 70s after Tuesday through the rest of the long
term forecast period.

VFR conditions will continue for the next few hours across western
and north central Nebraska, before areas of fog develop across the
Sandhills and southwest Nebraska overnight. MVFR conditions are
expected while fog is developing, but once more dense fog forms,
conditions are expected to rapidly drop to LIFR conditions across
the region. Winds remain light throughout the night and early
morning, which will help fog linger into the mid morning hours. By
mid to late morning, fog is expected to begin burning off, bringing
a quick return to VFR conditions across western and north central
Nebraska. Skies become gradually more cloudy throughout the afternoon
and evening, though ceilings are expected to remain VFR at this
time.
