Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service State College PA 245 PM EDT Mon Sep 8 2025

.SYNOPSIS... * High pressure stretches from the Midwest to the mid Atlantic region will maintain dry conditions through most or all of this week with daytimes featuring partly to mostly sunny skies and low humidity. Any early morning valley fog will dissipate by 10 AM each day.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Fair weather cumulus dots the canvas this afternoon and evening with clouds dissipating through sunset.

Issued a frost advisory through 12z/Tue for the north central most tier of counties as temperatures dip once again to 32-35 overnight. Discussion with surrounding offices based on temperatures dipping below NBM forecasts.

Temperatures through Tueaday morning will be several degrees below normal.

&&

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/... Dry weather with abundant sunshine and light wind will continue on Tuesday, though temperatures trend a few degrees higher, with most of Central Pennsylvania seeing highs in the low to mid 70s.

High res models show a light easterly flow setting up Tuesday night which may result in a stratus deck moving into the far east and southeast zones by morning. Can not rule a brief period of drizzle (~10%).

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... West of the above-mentioned clouds into the first half of Wednesday, abundant sunshine and dry conditions are favored into the end of the week. Temperatures will trend warmer for Wednesday thanks to a building ridge aloft. A weak, moisture- starved cold front will track through the region Wednesday night into Thursday, but no sensible weather impacts are expected. Temperatures may drop slightly for Thursday and Friday behind this front, but a warming trend is expected into the weekend. Some guidance shows another shortwave moving through Saturday night into Sunday, potentially bringing a few showers along with it, but uncertainty remains high.

&&

.AVIATION /19Z MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... High pressure will provide VFR conditions through the 18Z TAF period. Skies will clear out overnight and winds will go calm, allowing for patchy valley fog formation, especially over northern PA. Impacts at any TAF sites appear unlikely, though BFD would have the best chance (
