.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:
- Warm temperatures and dry weather are largely expected over the next few days, at least through Tuesday.
- As the ridge breaks down, chances for precipitation begin by Tuesday night into the second half of the week.
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
The upper ridge over the northern plains will amplify during the next few days. Temperatures will increase through Tuesday as the upper low of the desert southwest opens up and lifts north. With the weakening of this low and the movement onshore of the east Pacific trough, moisture will begin to increase across the region with the southwest flow aloft.
Mid week another weak shortwave lifts across the region, pushing a cold front and the possibility of showers through eastern Montana. The remainder of the week will features cooler temperatures and slight chances of rain as the Pacific trough moves onshore.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Ensemble consensus is fairly robust lending to high forecast confidence for warm and dry weather through Tuesday, though lower confidence exists on precipitation chances with increasing spread among ensemble members for the middle of the week and beyond. Overall therefore kept the forecast in line with NBM for this cycle.
