.NEAR TERM... (Rest of today and tonight) Issued at 1234 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Our upper trough will be exiting to the east before an air mass change. Diurnal heating will mix our boundary layer scattering the afternoon skies with fair weather CU and warm near seasonable normal scs temperatures in the lower to mid 80s areawide. Expecting CU to dissipate after sundown clearing the night skies with light & variable winds enhancing another cooler night with 50s lows.

.SHORT TERM... (Friday through Saturday night) Issued at 1234 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

The pattern changes on Friday as an upper ridge starts building in from the west. Down at the surface as high pressure exits, a lee low in eastern Colorado & New Mexico deepens shifting winds out of the south advecting a warmer air mass into our area. As a result will see a trend of above normal temperatures becoming hot across our southwest on Saturday with lower 90s highs. Normals for late September afternoons would be in the upper 70s to lower 80s across our area. Not expecting our warmup to be muggy due to weak if any surface moisture advection. On Saturday a surface high moving across the Central Plains may push a dry backdoor cold front to the Kansas/Oklahoma state line. However NAM guidance for now is keeping that front near but just out of our northern CWA while lifting it back through the Central Plains as a warm front.

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through Wednesday) Issued at 1237 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Seasonably warm weather will continue Sunday into much of next week, with temperatures dropping a few degrees Monday and Tuesday as surface ridging builds in from the northeast and winds become more easterly. By Wednesday and Thursday the surface ridge will move to the east as lee cyclogenesis occurs in eastern Colorado. This will turn our winds back to the south and keep temperatures slightly above average for this time of year. With upper ridging remaining largely in place over the region, no precipitation is currently forecast through the end of next week.
