...New AVIATION...

.UPDATE... Issued at 106 PM EDT Fri Sep 19 2025

No major changes to the forecast this afternoon. ACARS soundings from around South FL show some shallow moisture up to around 800 mb and then plenty of mid and upper level dry air in place. Scattered showers early this afternoon across the east coast metro with a few thunderstorms possible from late afternoon into the early evening hours, primarily over SE FL.

.SHORT TERM... (Today through Saturday) Issued at 1259 AM EDT Fri Sep 19 2025

The forecast for today and Saturday is trending drier as a weak area of low pressure in the western Atlantic pushes off to the northeast and ushers in a slightly drier air mass behind it. PWATs currently around 2.2-2.4 inches will drop to 1.5 to 1.8 inches by early this afternoon, which will act to limit the spatial coverage of showers and storms expected to develop during the mid afternoon and early evening. With a drier air mass moving in, much of the early part of the day is expected to be mainly dry with isolated to scattered showers and storms managing to develop by peak daytime heating.

Saturday should be even drier as modeled PWATs drop as low as 1.2 inches around Lake Okeechobee and interior South Florida. Despite the drier air mass, a few showers and storms may manage to develop by the late afternoon time period as they take advantage of peak daytime heating.

Highs today and tomorrow will reach the upper 80s to maybe low 90s depending on exactly how much sunshine we are able to get. Overnight lows will drop into the 70s each night.

.LONG TERM... (Saturday night through Thursday) Issued at 1259 AM EDT Fri Sep 19 2025

Drier air persists across the peninsula through the end of the weekend which should act to limit coverage of showers and storms on Sunday. Mid level ridging is able to build in across the Southeast which should maintain a generally easterly flow across the area through the period and keep highest rain chances across interior and southwest Florida through the mid-week time period. A similar evolution is expected each day Sunday through Thursday with mainly sunny conditions in the morning and showers and storms developing along the east coast sea breeze as it pushes inland. Maximum coverage of showers and storms will occur over interior and Southwest Florida during the early evening hours.

.AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 726 PM EDT Fri Sep 19 2025

VFR conditions will prevail throughout the forecast period. NE winds around 10 kts across the east coast terminals will gradually diminish as the evening progresses. Scattered showers will also diminish this evening, however, additional shower activity is possible near the east coast terminals overnight. Winds increase out of the NE after 15z Saturday and will range between 10 to 15 kts through the afternoon. At KAPF, winds may become more northerly Saturday afternoon as a Gulf breeze develops.

&&

.MARINE... Issued at 1259 AM EDT Fri Sep 19 2025

A moderate east-northeasterly breeze will continue today. Seas across the Atlantic waters will generally remain between 2 to 3 feet while seas across the Gulf waters remain at 1 to 2 feet. Periods of rough seas and gusty winds will be possible near the most robust shower and thunderstorm activity.

&&

.BEACHES... Issued at 1259 AM EDT Fri Sep 19 2025

As onshore flow persists, there is a moderate risk of rip currents across Southeast Florida beaches through the weekend.
