.SHORT TERM (This evening through Monday)... Issued at 217 PM EDT Sun Sep 14 2025
Rest of This Afternoon...
Few to perhaps scattered cumulus will be around this afternoon. Relatively humid conditions will continue west, but some drier air will move into portions of the eastern forecast area later in the afternoon.
The old boundary will continue to slide west during the day, and any convection that might pop with that will remain west of the forecast area.
Tonight...
Any cumulus will dissipate early this evening, leaving behind clear skies. High pressure will keep the weather quiet. Isolated fog is possible in river valleys, but coverage won`t be high enough to mention.
Lows will be in the 50s to lower 60s.
Monday...
The upper ridge and surface high pressure will be in control, again keeping the weather quiet. A few cumulus may pop up, but otherwise sunny skies are expected.
Highs will continue to be above normal, in the middle 80s to around 90.

.LONG TERM (Monday night through Sunday)... Issued at 217 PM EDT Sun Sep 14 2025
A blocking pattern with an upper low across the eastern USA and an upper ridge across central Indiana will persist through much of the work week.
This will result in very warm to hot conditions across the area through Thursday. Even with a surface trough in the vicinity to the southeast, the upper ridge should keep a lid on any convection that would try to develop.
Although many areas saw at least some light rain Saturday, the expected conditions should still dry things out quickly and keep the fire weather threat higher than average.
The pattern looks to become more progressive Friday into next weekend, with an upper low moving into the area. A surface low pressure system will accompany it. This will bring chances for rain along with gradually cooling temperatures. Even with highs cooling to around 80 degrees, these values are still above average.

Impacts:
- None
Discussion:
VFR conditions are expected through the period.
A few cumulus may pop up this afternoon and again on Monday. Can`t rule out some brief fog at KLAF overnight but odds are too low to include in the TAF. Winds will generally be east to southeast at less than 10kt.
