.UPDATE... Issued at 448 AM CDT Tue Sep 9 2025

A surface ridge attached to a high centered over the Northeast is aligned more or less over Middle Tennessee this morning, so the air mass remains dry and stable across the mid state. Despite the cool start to the day, look for afternoon temperatures to soar as diurnal ranges remain unusually large in the low daytime humidity. And despite the radiational cooling conditions, fog reports are quite few this morning. While afternoon highs continue to increase, we still aren`t sure when our next meaningful rain chances might occur; QPF values for the next 10 days remain at zero.

.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Wednesday Night) Issued at 1030 PM CDT Mon Sep 8 2025

We have moved into a very quiet weather pattern and it`s here to stay through the forecast period. High pressure is sitting off to our northeast and that will keep things quiet into Tuesday. Weak southerly flow will give us a slightly warmer start to the day with lows in the 50s. The southerly flow will also help to warm things into the mid to upper 80s for highs. A short wave will push out of the Plains into the Great Lakes on Tuesday. This won`t bring us any rain chances but it will bring us some high clouds from time to time. Not a whole of change is expected as we head into Wednesday. Short waves will continue to move over the Great Lakes and this will once again bring some high clouds from time to time. Highs will be similar in the mid to upper 80s.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Thursday through next Tuesday) Issued at 1030 PM CDT Mon Sep 8 2025

An upper level ridge will be amplifying over the Plains and will start to push east late week into the weekend. This will continue our warming trend with most locations seeing highs in the 90s by Thursday. The upper level ridge will be overhead Sunday into early next week and that will bring widespread low to mid 90s for highs. No rain chances throughout the forecast period.

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1221 AM CDT Tue Sep 9 2025

A surface ridge is positioned just to the NW of Middle Tennessee this morning, so we will continue to enjoy a dry, stable environment with a light S/SE surface wind on Tuesday. TAFs are VFR with the exception of SRB, where we`re expecting dense radiation fog and intermittent low stratus during the early morning hours.
