Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Fort Worth TX 1237 PM CDT Fri Sep 26 2025

...New Short Term, Long Term, Aviation...

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Quiet weather is expected through next week with mostly clear skies, cool nights, and slightly above normal afternoon highs.

&&

.SHORT TERM... /NEW/ /Through Tonight/

A surface high pressure center remains anchored across the Central/Southern Plains in the wake of a cold frontal passage earlier this week. Seasonably warm and pleasant sensible weather will be the result, with afternoon dewpoints mixing into the 50s and even upper 40s. This will continue to support a large diurnal temperature curve, with highs in the 80s to lower 90s and overnight lows in the upper 50s and 60s.

.LONG TERM... /NEW/ /Saturday Onward/

Benign weather will prevail through the extended period with essentially zero chance for rain this weekend and most of next week. Upper ridging will prevail to begin the weekend, contributing to a gradual warming trend with the return of southeasterly surface winds. The arrival of a mid-level trough on Sunday and Monday will largely go unnoticed aside from an increase in mid/high cloud cover, with the low-levels being far too dry to support precipitation despite this feature`s lift. The presence of these clouds could shave a degree or two off of highs both Sunday and Monday afternoons, before highs return to the upper 80s and lower 90s heading further into the workweek. Dry zonal flow will prevail through the extended portion of the forecast, with a rather stagnant mid/upper pattern in place. This will be the case until tropical systems on the eastern seaboard eventually depart next weekend, which should finally unlock a more progressive pattern around day 10 and beyond.

.AVIATION... /NEW/ /18z TAFs/

VFR conditions will prevail through the period, with predominantly SKC skies following the dissipation of a mid cloud deck at 8-9 kft presently over east Texas. This evening, light northerly winds around 5 kts will gradually transition to southeasterly over the course of several hours, while speeds remain at or below 5 kts into Saturday.
